MEMPHIS, Tenn. - Sewanee baseball fell in a Sunday night doubleheader to Rhodes to open the Southern Athletic Association schedule for both teams. With the rains coming across the southeastern United States the last couple of days, the series was moved to the University of Memphis' FedEx Park.

HOW IT HAPPENED, GAME 1
-Rhodes started the contest with two runs in the bottom of the second inning, but Sewanee responded in the next half inning. Max Murray, attempting to take third base, scored on an errant throw by the Rhodes catcher.
-However, the Lynx responded with two runs in the bottom of the third and one in the bottom of the fourth to lead 5-1 after four.
-The Lynx kept the foot on the gas pedal, with an RBI single to push the lead to 6-3 in favor of the home team.
-Leading 6-5 headed into the seventh inning stretch, the Lynx added a key insurance run via a sacrifice fly.
-After a scoreless eighth inning, the Tigers had the tying run at the plate, but they could not cash it in.
HOW IT HAPPENED, GAME 2
-Rhodes used two 3-run innings in the second and fifth innings to take the second game.
-Sewanee added single runs in the fourth off a sacrifice fly by Brandvold and in the fifth thanks to a Bryce Benedict RBI double.
SEWANEE KEY STATISTICS
-Chris McNulty finished the night with three hits, including a multi-hit in game one.
-Riley Brandvold tallied two RBI in the doubleheader.
-Drew Mancuso (0-1) allowed four earned on eight hits in 5.2 innings, while striking out five batters in game one
-Daniel McDonnell (0-3) started game two and only lasted 1.2 innings with three unearned runs allowed on two hits.
RHODES KEY STATISTICS
-Paul Giacomazzi finished with six hits in the twinbill, including a 4-for-5 performance at the plate in game one.
-Jack Mercer (2-1) struck out 12 batters in five innings, allowing two earned on five hits in game one.
-Trey Sledge (2-1) fanned nine batters in six innings of two-run ball in the late night cap.
The series finale is scheduled for 10:30 a.m. Monday from FedEx Park.
