ATLANTA - Announced by the Southern Athletic Association (SAA) Monday, Sewanee infielder Chris McNulty has been named the SAA Baseball Player of the Week after his performance on the diamond on the road at 10th-ranked LaGrange.
The sophomore racked up six hits, posting a .357 batting average with a double, four RBI and three runs scored.
In Sewanee's 13-5 season-opening win over the Panthers, the Atlanta native went 2-for-5 with a double and three runs driven in. With Sewanee leading 7-5, McNulty brought two key insurance runs home on a RBI single to cap an eight-run eighth inning.
In 2017, McNulty posted a .294 batting average with one homer and seven driven in as a reserve.
McNulty and the rest of the Tigers continue their seven-game opening road swing with a four-game slate with the Wildcats of Louisiana College. The series will open on Friday night with a 6 p.m. first pitch.
