BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (March 29, 2015) – An RBI single by Matt Brown helped Southern Athletic Association (SAA) rival No. 5 Birmingham-Southern to a 6-5 win over the Sewanee baseball team, Sunday, at Striplin Field.

After BSC took an early lead with a run in the bottom of the first, Sewanee fought back with two runs in the top of the third. A single by Tyler Minkkinen scored Michael Walker. Drew Mancuso then doubled in Minkkinen a batter later.

Unfortutantley, BSC rallied back in the bottom of the inning with three runs and two hits.

In the top of the sixth the Tiger bats came alive with three runs on three hits. Nathaniel Howard singled in Tony Dykes. Jackson Cooper then scored on a wild pitch after Ryan Poole loaded the bases. A batter later, Ben Clune drove in Howard with an RBI groundout to second.

However, BSC tied the game at 5-5 in the bottom of the sixth as Jack Rhodes scored Brandon Marino.

BSC reliever Wilson Jamison earned the win after tossing a scoreless inning. David Bourbonnais earned the save when he struck two hitters in the top of the ninth.

Dykes and Cooper led Sewanee with three hits each while Walker reached safely with two hits and a walk.

Sewanee returns to action with a 2:00 p.m. game against Maryville, Tuesday.
