Berry sweeps Sewanee with a pair of 9-0 wins

ROME, Ga. (March 14, 2015) – Behind great pitching, Southern Athletic Association (SAA) rival Berry earned a pair of 9-0 wins over the Sewanee baseball team, Saturday, at William R. Bowdoin Stadium.

The Tigers are now 4-6 overall and 2-6 in league play.

In game one Berry starter Ben Jernigan dominated on the mound posting a five-hit, complete-game shutout. Berry added runs in second, third, sixth, and seventh innings.

At the plate, Nick Stidham led Berry with three hits and two runs scored. Doug Health also added two hits, two runs scored, and one RBI.

Michael Walker led Sewanee with two hits while Charles Warren (L, 1-2) took the loss after giving up four runs in 3.2 innings.

In the second game, Berry starter Will Estes (W, 3-0) allowed only one hit in 4.2 innings of work. Reliever Joey Bell earned his first save of the year after also allowing only one hit in 2.1 innings.

Second baseman Alex McGill led Berry on offense with a 4-for-4 performance and two RBI.

Walker again led Sewanee with two hits.

Sewanee and Berry will conclude their series on Sunday.
