This year's total eclipsed last year's previous record of 1,029 student-athletes. "We are so pleased with this class. Not only are these young men talented in the class room (with an average GPA of 3.8 and an average SAT of 1270), they are also talented football players. We feel like this class is one of the most talented and balanced in terms of position groups we have had. The class represents a great cross section of our country coming from Tennessee, Georgia, Alabama, South Carolina, Florida, Virginia, Kansas, Louisiana, New England, Delaware, New York, and Nevada, exemplifying another year of how we are able to recruit young men from all over the country. SEWANEE, Tenn. – Graduating Seniors Jeremy Character (Marietta, Ga., Wheeler) and Steffi Renninger (Darnestown, Md., Sidwell Friends)highlighted the Sewanee athletic graduation awards this year, earning the Barron Cravens Cup for outstanding male athlete and the Outstanding Female Athlete Award, respectively. Character is a four-year letterwinner in both football and track and was multiple time All-Conference in both. He also received the Michaux Nash Award for outstanding performance in men’s track and field.
