SEWANEE, Tenn. – The Sewanee women’s lacrosse team moved to 3-1 on Monday with a marathon day of lacrosse. In the morning game, the Tigers slammed Pomona-Pitzer 20-8 and in the nighcap, Sewanee got 6-0 on Occidental and then 13-6 before Oxy scored eight unanswered goals to take the one-goal lead with 24 minutes left. Sewanee then scored 10 of the next 13 goals to get the 23-17 win.
Against Pomona,
Molly Arnold (Brooklandville, Md., Bryn Mawr) scored five goals to lead Sewanee and against Oxy,
Carly Grimm (South Salem, N.Y., John Jay) scored six times to lead the Tigers.
Amy Nusbaum (Norfolk, Va., Norfolk Academy) and
Theresa Monypeny (Memphis, Tenn., Hutchinson)split time in goal in the Tiger wins.
The 3-1 Tigers will play at Whittier on Wednesday before hosting Trine in Sewanee on Friday.
