CONWAY, Ark. -- The Sewanee women's basketball team played Hendrix in SCAC ball on Sunday and after Hendrix got out to a 47-24 lead just before the half, Sewanee rallied and outscored the Warriors 42-37 in the second period. The Tiger rally was stopped short, though, and Hendrix got the eventual 83-66 win.
Lauren Gulley (Winchester, Tenn., Franklin County) led Sewanee's scoring with 24 points, including five three-pointers.
Alex Ginsburg (Hollywood, S.C., Pinewood Prep) led Sewanee with eight rebounds and also chipped in 11 points. Christina Byler led Hendrix with 28 points and 25 rebounds. Hendrix had a 40-30 edge in field goal percentage.
Sewanee is now 6-13 and is 2-9 in the SCAC. The Tigers will play at Rhodes and Birmingham-Southern next weekend. Hendrix is 14-3 and 9-2 in the league.
