IRVING, Texas – The National Football Foundation (NFF) has announced its 2009 NFF Hampshire Honor Society inductees, according to Steven Hatchell, president of the NFF. Sewanee seniors Tyler Brantley (Danielsville, Ga./Athens Academy), Chima Ikwuezunma (Cartersville, Ga./Woodland) and Ben Scott (Madison, Tenn./Goodpasture) have earned the honor.
The NFF Hampshire Foundation was formed in 2007 and the award is given in recognition of outstanding accomplishments in the classroom, in the community and on the playing field.
Each Tiger inducted this year maintained above a 3.35 grade point average through graduation and excelled on the field and in the community, as well. “I am so pleased to see these young men named to such an honor,” added head coach Robert Black. “So often people across the country forget why our student athletes are in college to begin with, and it is nice to be reminded that our players lives extend way beyond the field. For us to have three recipients of this award in one year speaks volumes for Sewanee and our football program. All three of these young men will go on to remarkable things, and this award is a nice way for them to look back on their four years as a player.”
