CONWAY, Ark. – Sewanee faced host Hendrix in round one of the 2009 SCAC Championships today and after 67 scoreless minutes, senior Clare Ashburn (Washington, D.C., Holton-Arms) scored off of a Carly Grimm (South Salem, N.Y., John Jay) assist to get the 1-0 win for Sewanee.
Hendrix outshot Sewanee 10-6 and also took 10 corners compared to six for the Tigers. In goal, Sewanee’s Emily Detmer (Denver, Colo., Pomfret) had seven saves in goal and the shutout. Alyssa Havens had three saves in goal for Hendrix.
