Renovation

During 2011 Homecoming festivities, Vice Chancellor Dr. John McCardell, along with members of the men's and women's golf teams, officially broke ground on the construction phase for The Course at Sewanee. Just over a year later, the renovation is nearly complete. Irrigation lines are in, bunkers and fairways are reshaped, and the greens are growing nicely. Plans call for play to begin in the summer of 2013.

The challenge of restoring The Course at Sewanee was in the capable hands of Hanse Golf Course Design, Inc.

Founder and President Gil Hanse, who earned Golf magazine's Architect of the Year Award in 2009, has designed some of the nation's finest courses. Some examples of Hanse and his team's work, can been seen at the Taconic Golf Club of Williams College, Castle Stuart Golf Links in Scotland, and the Capstone Club at the University of Alabama. Also, Mr. Hanse was recently selected to design the golf course for the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro and the Doral Golf Resort's TPC Blue Monster course in Miami.
