From the legendary football team of 1899 to the teams of today competing in national intercollegiate tournaments, Sewanee has a long tradition of excellence in varsity athletics. Now there's a new way for Tiger fans to show their support. The University of the South is happy to introduce the YSR Club, an annual membership organization that will support the athletic program and enhance athletics overall at Sewanee.

SEWANEE, Tenn. 10/16/09 – Sewanee junior Chris Hague (Kensington, Md., Bullis) pulled away from the rest of the field to finish first in the men's race at the Tiger Twilight Invitational held today at the rain-soaked Sewanee Golf Club.

Mitzi Harrington of Sewanee, a senior runner from Warner, N.H., has been selected the SCAC Women’s Cross Country Runner-of-the-Week for meets run through Saturday, October 3, according to Jeff DeBaldo of the SCAC. “Mitzi had worked really hard over the past few years and has improved each year.  She is starting to realize the rewards of several years of training and will continue to improve this season.  I am proud of what she has accomplished and look forward to watching a strong finish to her cross country career,” said head coach Jeff Heitzenrater.

NASHVILLE, Tenn. 9/19/09  -  Junior Chris Hague (Kensington, Md., Bullis) paced the Sewanee men’s cross country team with an impressive ninth place finish in today’s Vanderbilt Invitational cross country meet at Percy Ward Park in Nashville, Tennessee.

SEWANEE, Tenn. -- Sewanee hosted the Sewanee Fall Cross-Country Invitational Saturday and 13 teams competed at the Sewanee Golf Course in the 5k women's course and the 8k men's course. Chris Hague (Kensington, Md., Bullis) was the top male runner for the Tigers followed by Andrew Jolley (Morristown, Tenn., Morristown West), while Mitzi Harrington (Warner, N.H., Dana Hall) led the Sewanee women's effort.

SEWANEE, Tenn. – The Sewanee men’s and women’s cross country teams have been named 2008 NCAA DIII All Academic Teams, according to Keith Nunez, communications director of the US Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA). To be eligible, a team must have above a 3.1 team grade point average.
