From the legendary football team of 1899 to the teams of today competing in national intercollegiate tournaments, Sewanee has a long tradition of excellence in varsity athletics. Now there's a new way for Tiger fans to show their support. The University of the South is happy to introduce the YSR Club, an annual membership organization that will support the athletic program and enhance athletics overall at Sewanee.

SEWANEE, Tenn. - Joe Wilson has accepted the position of assistant coach for the Sewanee men's lacrosse team, according to Marty Watters, head coach for the Tigers. “I really appreciate the opportunity that Coach Watters, Mark Webb and Sewanee have given me,” Wilson said. “I look forward to getting on campus, getting to work and learning everything I can from the athletic staff. I'm a local guy and its great to see the growth of lacrosse in Tennessee; hopefully I can be an addition to that growth.”

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Sewanee wrapped up a road weekend and its 2009 season Sunday at Colorado College and fell to CC 22-4 after trailing 12-2 at the half.

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Sewanee and Hendrix faced off in a men’s lacrosse matchup in neutral site Colorado Springs on Saturday afternoon and Sewanee edged out the Warriors 10-9 after leading 5-3 at the half. A four-goal fourth quarter nearly gave Hendrix enough to even the score, but a fifth Hendrix fourth quarter goal was called back, giving Sewanee the one-goal edge it needed for the win.

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Sewanee traveled to Birmingham to play the Birmingham-Southern men’s lacrosse team and topped the host Panthers 11-6 after leading 8-3 at the half.

SEWANEE, Tenn. – Sewanee hosted Mount Saint Joseph in men’s lacrosse on Saturday and also honored Matt Councill , Sewanee’s only senior, in the last Tiger home game of 2009.

SEWANEE, Tenn. – Sewanee hosted Trine University in men’s lacrosse action on Sunday and ended up at 1-1 on the weekend with a 12-11 loss to the visiting Thunder. Sewanee led much of the game and had an 8-7 lead at halftime. Trine rallied late and overcame the Tigers for the one-goal win with three minutes left to play.
