From the legendary football team of 1899 to the teams of today competing in national intercollegiate tournaments, Sewanee has a long tradition of excellence in varsity athletics. Now there's a new way for Tiger fans to show their support. The University of the South is happy to introduce the YSR Club, an annual membership organization that will support the athletic program and enhance athletics overall at Sewanee.

SUWANEE, Ga. – Sewanee has had three 2009 field hockey players named All-Conference, according to Dwayne Hanberry, commissioner of the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC). Senior Clare Ashburn (Washington, D.C., Holton-Arms) and junior Caroline Carlin (Gladwyne, Pa., Country Day) were named to the first team, while junior Caitlin McNaughton (Middleburg, Va., Foxcroft) got an Honorable Mention nod.

CONWAY, Ark. 11/7/09 – Rhodes College scored a goal on a penalty stroke with 50 seconds to play in the first overtime period to take a 2-1 victory and eliminate Sewanee from the SCAC Championship Field Hockey Tournament.

CONWAY, Ark. – Sewanee faced host Hendrix in round one of the 2009 SCAC Championships today and after 67 scoreless minutes, senior Clare Ashburn (Washington, D.C., Holton-Arms) scored off of a Carly Grimm (South Salem, N.Y., John Jay) assist to get the 1-0 win for Sewanee.

ST. CHARLES, Mo. -- Sewanee played at Lindenwood on Sunday and dropped the road field hockey match 2-1. The 2-1 final score was secured int he first half before a scorless second period.

MEMPHIS, Tenn. -- Sewanee's field hockey team wrapped up an SCAC weekend on the road at Rhodes Sunday and the host Lynx edged out the purple Tigers 2-1. All three goals were scored in the first period and the second half was scoreless.
