SAA Announces Fall 2018 All-Sportsmanship Teams

ATLANTA - The Southern Athletic Association has announced Thursday afternoon the 2018 SAA Fall All-Sportsmanship Teams.

The SAA places a special emphasis on good sportsmanship, great character, and fair play among all competitors.

Selected by the head coaches, below are the representatives for Sewanee:

Men's Cross Country - Ben Murray
A senior from Atlanta, Ga., Murray ran a season-best 8K time of 28:06.34 at the Berry Invitational on Oct. 13.

Women's Cross Country - Ellie Herron
A junior from Montgomery, Ala., Herron earned a personal mark in the 6K race with 26:02.0 time at the 2018 SAA Championships in Memphis on Oct. 27.

Field Hockey - Nikki Ereli
A senior from Houston, Texas, Ereli was a key contributor to the field hockey program on the defensive side of the ball. She recorded three defensive saves in the 2018 season.

Football - John Gaither
A senior from Cleveland, Tenn., Gaither earned All-SAA Honorable Mention honors on the offensive line this past season. He finishes his career as a four-year All-Conference selection.

Men's Soccer - William Porter
A sophomore from Nashville, Tenn., Porter played in nine matches this past season, tallying one point via an assist in Sewanee's 5-0 win on Sept. 17 versus Fisk.

Women's Soccer - Dayla LaRocque
A senior from Houston, Texas, LaRocque competed in all 19 contests in 2018 as a midfielder. Contributing an assist against Berry on Sept. 21, LaRocque was chosen as a Google Cloud Academic All-District® member, selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).

Volleyball - Mason Gardella
A junior from Fleming Island, Fla., Gardella recorded 117 kills on a .230 attack percentage with 38 total blocks.
