ATLANTA - The Southern Athletic Association has announced seedings for the 2018 spring sports championships in baseball, men's and women's lacrosse, softball and men's and women's tennis.
Sewanee enters the 2018 tournament as the seven-seed and will take on host and two-seed Rhodes on Thursday in an double-elimination bracket. The Tigers were swept by the Lynx in Memphis on Feb. 25-26.
Joining Rhodes and Sewanee is Oglethorpe (three-seed) and Centre (six-seed) in the Rhodes Regional.
The winner of the Rhodes Regional will take on the Berry Regional winner, which comprises of Birmingham-Southern, Millsaps, Hendrix and host Berry.
The Tigers earned the three-seed in the tournament and have guaranteed a first round contest at historic Hardee-McGee Field at Harris Stadium. The Tigers will host six-seed Hendrix on Friday night. The Tigers defeated Hendrix on April 8, 14-2, at home.
The winner of the contest will travel to two-seed Berry on Sunday, April 22.
Sewanee will host Berry as the three-seed in the tournament and will also have a home contest on Friday night at Puett Field. Sewanee took down Berry at Mount Berry, Ga., 19-3, on March 31.
The winner will take on two-seed Centre on Sunday, April 22.
The Sewanee softball program will travel to Chattanooga for the 2018 tournament. The team will take on Birmingham-Southern as the seven-seed. The double-elimination bracket begins on Thursday.
MEN'S AND WOMEN'S TENNIS
Claiming the regular season crown for the sixth consecutive season, the Tigers Tennis programs will enter postseason play as the one-seed. Both men's and women's teams will take on Hendrix on Friday. Both teams claimed 9-0 sweeps over the Warriors in Conway, Ark. on April 7.
