MARYVILLE, Tenn. -- Nine Sewanee Equestrian Team members competed at the 2010 IHSA Zone 5, Region 1 Regional Championship Horse Show Friday.  Maryville College hosted the afternoon competition at Icon Sporthorses in Friendsville, Tennessee.  Riders qualify to compete at this horse show when they accumulate in their division during regular season competition.  The Champion, Reserve Champion and third place finishers in each class at the Regional Championship qualify to compete at the 2010 IHSA Zone 5 Finals Horse Show to be held on April 10, 2010 at Berry College in Rome, Georgia.

SEWANEE, Tenn. -- The Sewanee men's lacrosse game scheduled for today have been moved to West Forsyth High School in Cumming, Ga. and will be played at 1 pm. Sewanee will face the Pride of Greensboro in its first game of spring break.

CLARKESVILLE, Ga. – Three Sewanee women’s golfers competed at the Piedmont Spring Invitational Monday and Tuesday and Clesi Bennett (New Orleans, La., Sacred Heart) led Sewanee’s effort with rounds of 111 and 102 – good for 35th place.

Cally McGowan (Lake Forest, Ill., Lake Forest) and Virginia McCall (Greenville, S.C., Christ Church Episcopal) rounded out the Tiger three with 39th and 43rd place finishes.

SEWANEE, Tenn. -- Coach Robert Black announced today that Jake Wissing, a 2003 DePauw University graduate, has joined the Tiger coaching staff as an assistant coach and will direct the offensive line. Wissing comes from DePauw University where he served in the same capacity since 2007. “We have the utmost respect for DePauw as a university and certainly their football program, so we were very excited to have a chance to speak with Jake about our opening,” said Black. “In getting to know Jake, it was clear that he is a knowledgeable, energetic teacher, who communicates extremely well with people. He will make an immediate impact on our university and our football program from X’s and O’s to recruiting. We also welcome Jake’s soon to be wife, Kelsea to the Mountain as they begin their lives together. We welcome both to our Sewanee Football Family.”

3.10.10 | Men's Cross Country, Women's Cross Country
SEWANEE, Tenn. – The U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association announced it’s national All-Academic Teams this week and both the Sewanee men and women were honored. To earn the award, a team must have a team GPA of 3.10 or higher. The Sewanee men had a 3.3 and the Tiger women had a team GPA of 3.27.

SEWANEE, Tenn. – Sewanee senior hurler Greg Bartleski (Charlottesville, Va., Covenant) has been named SCAC Pitcher of the Week and also Tiger of the Week for his performance the weekend of March 6-8, 2010.

3.8.10 | Men's Lacrosse
  SEWANEE, Tenn. – The Sewanee men’s lacrosse team hosted Carthage at Puett Field Monday night and got out to an early 4-1 lead. Carthage began its rally in the second quarter and the score was tied 4-4 at the halftime break. In the second, the teams traded goals until Carthage finally got two goals ahead for the 9-7 win.
